Airport Tips

  • Please ensure you print off your boarding passes for both outgoing and return flights. Marrakech Airport does not have a barcode scanner, so physical boarding passes are required for check-in and security.

  • Allow for ample time when departing from Marrakech. Arrive at the airport at least three hours before your scheduled departure time to account for airport queues and security checks as Marrakech is a very popular destination.

  • Some airlines include departure taxes in the ticket price, while others require payment at the airport. Check with your airline beforehand to avoid any last-minute surprises.

  • Arrange for transfers to the airport in advance. We can help you arrange this.

Currency

Dirhams is a “closed currency”, meaning you cannot take the currency in or out of Marrakech - You will need to convert your currency to Dirhams upon arrival in Marrakech or use ATMs to withdraw local currency as needed during your stay.

We advise you to bring a Monzo card - while credit cards are widely accepted in tourist areas and larger establishments, smaller vendors and local markets often prefer cash transactions in Dirhams. Having local currency on hand will be beneficial for purchasing souvenirs, snacks, or engaging in local experiences.

Airport Considerations: When departing from Morocco, it's important to note that there are restrictions on taking Dirhams out of the country. Be mindful of your remaining Dirham balance and consider converting excess currency back to your home currency or spending it before leaving.
